Designed for the distance a desk actually is — about a metre, with your head at the apex of a triangle rather than off to one side. At that distance a small cabinet beats a large one, because the room stops contributing.

Four-inch paper woofer, one-inch soft dome, crossed at 2.6 kHz. Rear port, so they want about ten centimetres of clearance behind them; a wall directly behind will thicken the bass.

Analogue in on 3.5 mm and RCA, plus USB-C for a direct digital feed. Volume is a physical knob on the right cabinet, because a volume control you have to find on screen is not a volume control.
